Voorhout
Voorhout originated in the Middle Ages along the old Zijlweg, an important trade route. In the 17th century, the village grew due to the bulb cultivation industry and became a key center in the Bollenstreek region. The arrival of the railway in 1855 and the construction of estates like Nieuw Schoonoord brought prosperity and improved accessibility. The bulb fields remain a distinctive feature of the village today.
